Following in line with Nike’s recent appreciation of the sneakers of yesteryear, the Nike Air Zoom Alpha has been re-released after 23 years. The toe cap features volt green leather with additional black accenting, layered over a breathable black mesh which traces onto the side panels which are contrasted by a volt and a habanero red swoosh. The side panel is finished with a layered leather mudguard in white and black which runs parallel to the curved midsole and around the collar. The lacing unit adds a point of white accenting. The white midsole is instantly recognisable in shape thanks to the growth in popularity of the Spiridon since 2014, although truthfully this model actually fathered the design in the late nineties.
Nike’s newest season shows them to be revisiting old classics continually from the Air Max Plus OG to this model. Initially developed in 1996, it paved the way for future sports sneakers through carefully placing four zoom pods in high stress areas of the foot for a unique support. This re-release now twenty three years later is a stitch for stitch replica offering the same levels of comfort and style.
